| Dr. Kapil Raje is working as a scientist with over 12 years of experience in the field of entomology. He has studied various insects in forest ecosystems, agroecosystems and urban ecosystems in lab, greenhouse and field settings. At ICRISAT, Dr Kapil promotes integrated pest management on the farmers’ fields in different projects across different Indian states. He studies pest dynamics in different cropping systems on the ICRISAT campus fields. He is interested in beneficial insects such as honey bees, silkworm and lac insect. He also participates in capacity building of various stakeholders such as govt officials, field staff, students and farmers. Dr. Kapil pursued his PhD. from Purdue University, USA where he worked on predicting invasive longhorned beetles using molecular phylogenetics. During his postdoctoral study, he worked on controlling termites using turmeric and RNAi, gene annotation for the bedbug genome consortium and differential gene expression in indoxycarb-susceptible and indoxycarb-resistant populations of German cockroaches.” |
