ICRISAT’s Landscape Initiatives in Bundelkhand Applauded by Union Agriculture Minister at Datia

ICRISAT’s work in the Bundelkhand region received significant recognition by Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, on 26 August 2025, during the inauguration of the newly established College of Veterinary Science at Datia – a constituent college of the Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University (RLBCAU) in Jhansi. The event was presided over by Dr ML Jat, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

As part of the proceedings, Dr Ramesh Singh, Principal Scientist and Cluster Head – ICRISAT Development Center, presented ICRISAT’s ongoing efforts in landscape resource conservation across Bundelkhand. His presentation focused on integrated strategies for water management, soil health, and climate-resilient farming systems to improve productivity and sustainability in the region’s challenging agro-ecological conditions.

The Honorable Minister appreciated ICRISAT’s scientific and participatory approach to natural resource management and acknowledged its positive impact on rural livelihoods. He expressed a strong interest in visiting ICRISAT’s intervention sites in Bundelkhand to witness the outcomes firsthand.
