On 19 July 2025, Dr Shalander Kumar, Deputy Global Research Program Director – Enabling Systems Transformation, ICRISAT, and Dr Ramesh Singh, Principal Scientist – Landscape Resource Conservation, Resilient Farm and Food Systems, ICRISAT, contributed expert insights at the brainstorming workshop “Climate Science Delivery: Reaching the Unreached” organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) – Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA). The event focused on bridging the gap between climate science and last-mile farmers through innovative delivery mechanisms.

Dr Shalander made a presentation on ‘Institutional architecture for upscaling climate-resilient technologies and innovations in India’ and proposed a multi-dimensional framework for climate resilience, emphasizing:

  • An Agricultural Data-Innovation Hub leveraging AI/ML to provide contextual solutions for farmers, policymakers, and value chain actors
  • Creation of 10,000-hectare carbon-neutral resilience innovation hubs as demonstration landscapes
  • Strengthening FPOs and agri-tech startups through NARES-supported validation systems
  • Block-level Climate-Resilient Agriculture (CRA) action plans with targeted investments
  • Policy mechanisms to boost climate financing and PLI schemes for CRA service providers
